I checked my bank account today worried that I wouldn’t have enough cash for all my bills AND enjoying myself this weekend at SXSW. To my suprise, there was an extra lump of cash direct deposited from work. I assumed it was my bonus. I asked a coworker and that is what they assumed too. Nothing had really been mentioned about our annual bonuses and raises. Last year I received both in spite of only having been there a few months. Last year my raise wasn’t all that much and my bonus was equal to the extra cash i would have earned the previous year had I had the raise in place and having worked a full year. I am not sure if that was a coincidence or not. If that was indeed the rule, then I’m excited to see what my raise % is! We find that out this weekend at SXSW.
The first thing I did when I had a break from work was look at some movie cameras. Cannon has a pretty slick one for $3999. However, I refrained from the impulse buy. I have been thinking more lately about doing a movie and I half saw this as a sign to get started. However, starting with buying a camera when I no little about cameras probably isn’t the best idea. I did however, pay off the remainder of my Bank of America credit card. I took out a loan to pay that off a bit ago, but managed to rack up some debt on it over Christmas and just minor other things. So that is awesome. I have enough money left to pay off my Credit Union credit card, but I’m a worry wart and am going to sit on the money until next month to pay it off. Maybe I will keep it in my ING account for a bit to build up interest. Yes, that is actually not a bad idea. It will prevent me from spending it too.
In related news, even before the bonus today, I managed to pay off the remainder of my surgery bills as well as my Guitar Center credit card debt I racked up when I bought my drums last year. The GC debt was no-interest for 1 year sort of deal and I wanted to pay that off before the 1 year was up, because I heard the interest is retro active once it takes effect. ewwww.
The only purchases i might make that are out of the ordinary are a nice couch and some good vocal mics for the podcast I want to start with Charles. Keep the fingers crossed…
