This was an interesting little watch last night while trying to burn off that extra helping of stuffing….
My friend Jenn told me a joke this evening that some drunk guy told her Native American uncle yesterday:
Yay. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I am heading back to Wisconsin to hang with my folks. I believe this might be the first Thanksgiving I have had with my family ON thanksgiving in a while. So I am stoked. Darren and Kristen will be there too. Anyway, I hope the 1 or 2 people who actually read this thing have a great Thanksgiving.
My dad, the wise man that he is, said in regard to my attempts to quit smoking, “The absolute number is zero”. I’m sure it is a quote from someone else, since my dad is no mathematician. However, he speaks the truth. As of just before bedtime on Friday November 9th, I was able to not have a single cigarette for a solid week. However, some stress and anxiety that came up over the weekend mixed with forgetting to put on my patch and resulted in my nearly immediately going to the gas station to buy cigarettes. I smoked a couple and then threw the pack away. After doing this with 4 packs over 2 days, I gotta re-evaluate things a bit and figure out my triggers again. Admittidly, being very sick last week helped me stop. I didn’t go out at all hardly. Perhaps it isn’t so much the stress and the overwhelming nature of things. Hmm. Things to think about indeed.
Quick stab… Over the weekend, Jon, Adam, and I went to catch No Country for Old Men at the Uptown Theater before it opens nationwide tomorrow. I have to say, it was a trip of a movie. I loved it. I am no expert on the Coen Bros work, but going from the Big Lebowski to Oh Brother Where Art Though and then seeing this flick… snap. It is a dark comedy if you are looking for it. There is witty intelligent dialog, some parts you feel bad for laughing at, and lots of good ol Texan drawl that makes you chuckle. Also, I saw the trailer for the movie after seeing the actual movie, and it in no way does the movie justice. You would think it some bad action flick directed by Jerry Bruckheimer. Moreso, picture the nihilists in the Big Lebowski cutting off the one girl’s toe and shouting “where’s the money Lebowski?”
“A week ago, an exasperated and overworked Blaine came down with a wicked cold just as he anxiously approached a long weekend. In a slight act of desperation, he made a last minute appointment with the doctor consuming a good portion of one of his two vacation time days he took off.
I was listening to Podcaust, Sarah’s friend Rob’s Podcast about dork shit. I love it. Anyway, the last episode, they mentioned whysoserious.com and the viral marketing for the new Batman movie. I have heard Heath Ledger is to play The Joker. The pictures on the site and some from google images make me really excited to see this movie.
I was using Google as spell check again for steple.. err… steepl… er “Did you mean steeple?” YES.
The other night while riding bike I was watching some more Charlie Rose vids. This one was vastly interesting.
An older customer says to the barista today : “That is the first thing I am going to ask when I meet St. Peter at the gates – ‘Where’s the coffee, and none of the decaf shit. I want the real stuff’. Then the next question is ‘Where is the smoking room?’. If they don’t have one, I’ll go join my mother’s casket in limbo because I’m sure they got one”.
